The state has lifted the ban on empty tractor-trailers on the Thruway for areas west of Rochester.
The ban is lifted from Exit 45 in Victor to the Pennsylvania state line. It remains in effect, however, from Exit 45 to Exit 31 in Utica.
The ban was put in place Sunday morning as high winds threatened to topple the trucks. The ban covered the Thruway and other state highways, including parts of 390, 490 and 590.
At least one empty truck, that was not obeying the ban, was knocked onto its side on the Thruway near Buffalo by the high winds.
