The 2017 Grammy nominations were released Tuesday morning and the Rochester community is once again rooting for some hometown favorites.

The Rochester area – specifically alumni from the Eastman School of Music – are well represented in this year’s group of Grammy nominations.

Included on the list are:

Steve Gadd: nominated for best contemporary instrumental album. Gadd was born in the Rochester area and graduated from the Eastman School of Music.

Bob Ludwig: nominated for best engineered album, non-classical. The 10-time Grammy award winner earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Eastman.

Sean Connors, as part of the ensemble of Third Coast Percussion: nominated for best chamber music. Connors is an Eastman alumnus and is currently pursuing a music doctoral degree at Eastman.

Kristian Bezuidenhout: nominated for best classical instrumental solo. After graduating from the Eastman, he moved to London and tours much of Europe with some of the world’s leading ensembles.

Gene Scheer: nominated for best contemporary classical composition. He has both a bachelor’s and a master’s from Eastman.

Congratulations to all of this year’s nominees, especially those with local connections!
