A groundbreaking center for RED-Rochester was held at Eastman Business Park on Wednesday, to commemorate the replacement of their coal burning boilers.
The company is making a $90 million investment and putting in efficient, clean-burning natural gas fired boilers.
The utility company works with businesses to improve energy efficiency. This investment will make Eastman Business Park coal-free for the first time in over 100 years.
“It will reduce greenhouse gases by 50 percent, the amount of nitrogen oxide by 60 percent,” said John Brunkl, CEO of Ironclad Energy. “The amount of gases going into the atmosphere is reduced by almost 100 percent.”
Construction is set to be completed by January 2018.
