East students got a chance to expand their reading skills on a field trip on Wednesday.
50 students from 6th grade through 9th grade went on a field trip to Barnes & Noble in Pittsford.
They got to meet the staff and pick out two books to keep. All of the students were nominated as part of their literacy growth.
“These are a lot of scholars that showed a lot of growth in their reading scores, and have been doing a really good job working really hard in literacy class in school,” said teacher Alexa Tarantino.
After the tour, the kids got to enjoy lunch at Chipotle and ice skating at MLK Memorial Park.
