Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo has ordered flags at county facilities to be flown at half-staff to honor the worker killed in an accident last week in Rochester.
Flags will be at half-staff through Thursday for Jeffrey Farrell, Dinolfo says.
Farrell, a worker at Monroe County’s Pure Waters division, was killed after a tractor trailer went off Route 104, down an embankment and struck him while he and another worker were making repairs on a storm drain along Hudson Avenue.
Farrell was killed. The driver of the truck, 58-year-old Tracy Premo, who troopers believe suffered a medical problem before going off the road, also died in the crash.
In a statement Monday, Dinolfo writes: “Like many across our community, I am heartbroken by the recent passing of Jeffrey Farrell, a member of our Monroe County Pure Waters division. Jeffrey is one of 4,500 dedicated County employees who go to work each day in service to their fellow neighbors throughout Monroe County. His passing while on the job is tragic and the depth of his loss will be felt within the family of Monroe for years to come. In Jeffrey’s honor, I have ordered flags on all County facilities to fly at half-staff through Thursday, January 24. I ask all of our residents to continue to lift his family with your thoughts and prayers during their time of mourning.”
