The development team behind Skyview at the Ridge has announced Phase One of renovations of the former Medley Centre on East Ridge Road in Irondequoit.
Developers say they chose the name Skyview on the Ridge because it focuses on the positive attributes still associated with the property.
Owner Angelo Ingrassia unveiled plans for a mixed-use facility, with more than 300,000 sq. ft. of space available for commercial tenants, in its first phase.
Re-construction of the interior and main entrances to the space are part of the plan, along with common areas of the building. Anchor stores could remain whole or subdivided if tenants desired.
While developers are moving away from traditional retail, they listed several retail businesses that could potentially support other tenants at the site, such as a coffee shop, cafe, movie theatre, or fitness center.
Ingrassia has allocated 50,000 sq. ft. in the lower part of the building to the Town of Irondequoit, if they wished to build a community center inside.
The former Irondequoit Dodge car dealership just north of the former Medley Centre will be demolished. The demolition is scheduled to begin Tuesday afternoon to make a new entryway for the businesses on site.
Crews will begin cleaning up the exterior of the property this fall. The plans include new landscaping and a resealed parking lot.
Phase One of renovations are expected to take 12-18 months and cost $11.4 million. Developers have submitted bids for state funding for the project, which they say is critical to its success.
