After more than two months, deputies have returned to the Sodus farm where a mother and baby were reported missing in May.
The mother, Selena Hidalgo-Calderon, was found dead in a wooded area near the farm, days after a missing person report was issued. However, despite an Amber Alert and an intensive multi-day search, her 14-month-old son Owen still hasn’t been found.
Wednesday morning, search crews have returned to the farm off Joy Road, but little information is available. Sheriff Virts only tells News 8 the investigation is continuing.
The last update in the case came in mid-July went Sheriff Virts told News 8 an autopsy report for Selena Hidalgo-Calderon still hadn’t yet been received and no additional charges had been filed against the only suspect in the case: Selena’s boyfriend Everardo Donoteo-Reyes.
Donoteo-Reyes faces tampering with evidence and immigration charges, but hasn’t been charged with Selena’s death. Deputies say Donoteo-Reyes was captured on trail cameras walking in and out of the wooded area where Selena Hidalgo-Calderon’s body was found wrapped in plastic.
News 8 will update this story as more information becomes available.
