A dog having trouble breathing was helped by DEC officers who happened upon the animal at Boughton Park in East Bloomfield.
According to the Department of Environmental Conservation, the owner and the dog were on a trail when the dog started struggling to breathe. The owner approached ECO Keith Levanway and park security officer Matt McDonald who happened to be in a parking lot.
Levanway quickly recognized the condition as mega-esophagus, a condition his family pet faced.
Levanway got onto the ground and held the dog in a position to help it breathe while the owner brought their vehicle down to bring the dog to the vet.
We’re told the pet is expected to make a full recovery.
