Daily Fantasy Sports being challenged in lawsuit

Local News
An anti-gambling group in New York State has filed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of a new law which legalizes and regulates daily fantasy sports.
The group, SPG, claims a constitutional amendment is needed to actually legalize Daily Fantasy Sports.
Governor Andrew Cuomo enacted the law over the summer, allowing gaming to resume in New York State after it was previously suspended.
Proponents of the law say Daily Fantasy Sports is a game of skill and not gambling. The attorney who filed the lawsuit today disagrees.

“It is absolutely ludacris for the common person to sit there and be told by the legislature that Daily Fantasy Sports involving millions, if not billions, of dollars isn’t really gambling,” said Attorney Neil Murray. “Come on, let’s be real.”

Interactive fantasy sports were originally suspended in New York State after Attorney General Eric Schneiderman also argued that violated the constitution.
