Creepy clown allegedly spotted in Greece

Local News

A creepy clown was allegedly spotted on Bonesteel Street Thursday night in Greece.

Residents reacted Friday to a picture of the clown floating around social media.

“It doesn’t look like a happy clown. It looks like someone trying to scare people,” Jason Ballard said.

“That’s very unusual if it was standing out someone’s house and not interacting with someone’s kids,” Wayne Barry said. “I’m not normally watching or seeing a clown outside of my house; at night or midnight or any other time.”

The alleged incident was the latest in a string of sightings in the area, where people are believed to be dressing up as clowns and intimidating citizens.

The Ogden Police Department, the Greece Police Department and the Attica Police Department all said they’re dealing with reports of clown sightings, but none have turned out to be anything.

Terry Sinopoli with Arlene’s Costumes said she’s sold plenty of clown outfits at her store, but the one the clown on Bonesteel Street was allegedly wearing doesn’t look familiar.

“It looks like it may have been something pieced together from a couple of different things. Maybe a jester and then a clown on top of it, then a mask. When pieced together, it made it even creepier,” Sinopoli explained

We asked Sinopoli what she thinks is going on.

“I truly don’t think they’re professional clowns. I truly think that they are probably just kids who want to get out and have a good time,” she said.
