For Courtney Wager, every day was a gift.
From a young age, she excelled on the soccer field and basketball court.
A young, productive life with a bright future was interrupted by one visit to the doctor.
For years, she fought and, for years, it seemed like she was winning.
She finished high school at Canandaigua Academy, scored the first basket on Senior Night and lived her dream when she was interviewed by Ellen DeGeneres.
But the love she spread in life could not stop the spread of cancer inside her.
At the age of 18, the brain cancer became too much.
Her memory lives in the halls of Canandaigua schools, in the hearts of her friends and family and the people of Western New York, who watched her smile, laugh and live.
