Court papers: 3-year-old Seneca Falls boy has no brain activity after beating

Local News

Police say a 3-year-old boy in Seneca Falls is on life support with no brain activity after he was badly beaten.

Officers say they were first called to the home earlier this month for a report of a child that had fallen down stairs. Crews responded and the child was rushed to Upstate Medical Center.

While being treated, police say doctors found the boy’s injuries were not consistent with a fall.

Police say the child had suffered significant trauma to the head and body, and that he was unresponsive when they found him.

Court documents say the child was beaten with a belt.

As a result of the beating, the 3-year-old boy is unable to breath on his own and has bleeding in his brain, court documents reveal.

At that point, officers launched an investigation.

Now, Donald and Alison Bovio are charged with assault in the first degree.

Allison is the boy’s biological mother; Donald is the stepfather.

Both are new to the Seneca Falls community – but police say Donald Bovio has an extensive criminal history in Salem, Mass.

They are both in jail on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
