A local organization recognized a major milestone – and a comeback from a colossal setback.
The Conkey Crusiers cycling group in Rochester celebrated its five year anniversary. The party took place at the corner of Conkey and Clifford avenues.
Last year, the organization’s entire fleet of bicycles was stolen. But thanks to donations from the community, the bikes were replaced.
The group’s founder couldn’t say enough about the community that has supporter her cause.
“All those businesses and all those folks that reached into their pockets and gave us anywhere from five cents to $40,000, I want you to know today that your work and your investment has paid off and we have truly made a difference in our neighborhood,” said founder Theresa Bowick. “And we thank you for that.”
The cycling group helps people in low-income areas get fit and improve their self-esteem.
