News 8 had a chance to sit down with Congresswoman Louise Slaughter on Friday to ask her about the recent flooding crisis in Monroe County.
The congresswoman says, from a federal perspective, there is little that can be done to combat the flooding until it stops raining.
“It’s going to get worse, I’m afraid,” she said. “The face is, the polar ice cap is melting. Ontario is a drain lake, and so, if there is heavy snowpack in the midwest, we get it. If it rains incessantly, like it has, we get it.”
