A compromise was reached that possibly paves the way for an innovative athletic facility in Pittsford
Irondequoit Country Club told the town’s Planning Board on Monday that they accepted the changes made to the proposal to Nazareth College.
Nazareth, with The Golisano Foundation, is planning to build a $23 million facility geared towards people with intellectual disabilities.
The country club had worried about its size and location.
On Monday, the Planning Board was told a deal had been reached.
“We got them to move back, to try to screen it and so they made some real efforts it’s not perfect, not exactly what we wanted, but we think it’s reasonable compromise that we can live with,” said Alan Knauf, attorney for the Irondequoit Country Club.
“We’ve looked all over the country for a similar kind of partnership and we haven’t been able to find it, so it’s exciting not only for the college, it’s truly exciting for the community,” said Daan Braveman, Nazareth College President.
The planning board will now decide whether to approve the project. Nazareth wants to start construction soon.
