School safety is a growing concern these days: That’s why a local security company is raising awareness about new gadgets districts can use to keep students and staff safe.
The Amour Security and Protection’s Campus Safety Symposium put on display new tools and held panel discussions on the challenges that districts and campuses face.
“The key is not just responding to a crisis, but really the key is how to get in front of an event and hopefully prevent it using the type of technology that’s being developed today,” explains Deputy Mayor Cedric Alexander.
Police and school officials hope to develop a plan where some of those technologies can be used as soon as this fall.
Speaking of keeping students safe, we saw first-hand what local school resource officers encounter every day. A Day in the Life of a School Resource Officer airs Tuesday night at 11 on News 8.
