Charlie Tan has had a handful of loyal supporters from day one and today was no different. Tan walked out of court smiling from ear to ear, by his side Dave Testa.
Testa is among Tan’s supporters who have been at the Hall of Justice for every court appearance.
“We’ve very relieved, it’s a good thing. The right thing happened,” says Testa.
Jim Tan’s murder took place in the family home on Coachside Lane in Pittsford.
Neighbors News 8 spoke with are celebrating the judges decision today. Many say this is what they’ve hoped for all along.
Throughout the trial the neighborhood has rallied around the Tan family, saying they knew Charlie as a good boy, not a killer. Residents there started an online fundraiser and raised more than fifty thousand dollars for his defense.
Now they’re looking forward to what life will be for the family after this ordeal.
“I’m just so happy that the nightmare is over and that Charlie will be able to go back to school, and they will be able to go back to living their lives again. It’s what they should have always had, a normal life,” says neighbor Catherine Toy.
Toy went on to tell News 8 that many neighbors hope this case will bring awareness to domestic violence in Monroe County, and that they will all welcome the Tan family with open arms in celebration
