PENFIELD, NY (WROC) — A committee has issued its recommendations for what the town should do with the property for the former Shadow Pines golf course in Penfield.
The report outlines public suggestions for the land off File Mile Line Road, which ranged from athletic fields to spray parks to even a cemetery, and whether the committee approved of those suggestions.
As part of the report, the committee suggested using the space for the following:
- Paths
- Snowshoe trails
- Cross-country skiing
- Mountain biking
- An orienteering course (a navigating game)
- Frisbee golf
- Spray park
- Ice skating
- Playgrounds
- Athletic field
- Volleyball/bocce
- Pavilions/shelters/picnic tables
- Lodges
- Restrooms
- Festival site/farmers market
The committee, however, shot down recommendations for camping areas, a skate park, tennis courts, a pump track, a rope course, a golf course, a soapbox derby facility, motorsports, a driving range, an off-leash dog park, a conservatory, a cemetery, and art exhibition space.
The recommendations were submitted to the town board on Wednesday.
