Monroe County is helping keep kids warm this winter by distributing coats to children as part of its ‘Coats for Kids’ program.
On Monday, County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo handed out winter coats to kids at Enrico Fermi School No. 17.
Principal Caterina Leone Mannino says the coats do much more than just keep a child warm.
“Many of our children face attendance issues during the cold months of winter, and so we know to have them properly geared up for making it to school on time,” Leone Mannino says. “It’s really very important for us.”
The program, currently in its fourth year, has donated over 500 winter coats to local children.
