The retrial of Jose Torres – a man who was previously found guilty of murder – is starting to come to a close.
Closing arguments were held on Wednesday before the judge ordered a recess. Jury deliberations are set to start on Thursday.
Torres has spent the past 15 years in Attica for the murder of Miguel Cruz. However, Torres’ verdict was overturned in August, after another inmate, Angel Carrasquillo, confessed to the crime in a News 8 interview.
On Tuesday, Carrasquillo’s cousin – Steven Rivera – backed his version. Rivera also stated that Carrasquillo admitted to the murder years later, while the two were in jail.
