Community leaders took to the streets of Rochester Monday night for “Clergy on Patrol.”
The initiative includes Rochester Police, local ministers and Mayor Lovely Warren–in an effort to reduce violence.
The group does several walks throughout the year, but this is the first since three shootings took place last week, which left two men dead and three others injured.
The walk tonight took place along Hayward Avenue, where the group visited with neighbors to hear their concerns. The city also talked with parents about ways to keep kids out of trouble.
“It’s just a way to tell them that we’re here and we care about them,” says Mayor Lovely Warren. “We want everyone to know we have alternatives, we ave different programs and different opportunities for our young people.”
This is the fourth year for “Clergy on Patrol” in Rochester.
