Mayor Lovely Warren and the City of Rochester honored the start of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan on Tuesday.

Members of the local Muslim community joined the mayor at City Hall for a ceremony. During Ramadan, Muslims pray and fast from dawn to dusk.

The month is a time for spiritual reflection, improvement and increased devotion and worship. A special table featuring information about Ramadan is on display in the City Hall atrium throughout the holy month.
