People who work downtown and park in city garages should be ready to pay more, beginning in August.
On August 1, the City of Rochester is raising the monthly rates at downtown parking garages. The rate increases vary depending on the garage.
The City says it’s been raising rates the past few years, in order to keep the garages competitive, and to keep pace with market rates.
“We don’t want city taxpayers to necessarily be subsidizing what it costs to run and operate these garages on an annual basis,” said Communications Director with the City, James Smith. “We’d much prefer it if the garages can break even and the revenue we get from the people who park there would cover the expense.”
Notices have been posted on garages, to notify people ahead of the change.
