Wednesday, the City of Rochester celebrated the grand opening of Jack-Rabbits Chicken and Ice Cream Restaurant on Jefferson Avenue.
The restaurant is located in the Willie W. Lightfoot Square. Mayor Lovely Warren and City Council member Willie J. Lightfoot joined Executive Chef Orlando Campbell II to celebrate the opening.
“Well, it’s a great opportunity,” said Campbell. “This area needs a restaurant, a real restaurant, you know. You got mini-marts, little convenience stores — you stop to play the lottery and offer cigarette and little food but you know we really need a restaurant feel. Where you have actual chairs and good food, quality customers. It feels good. I feel excited about it.”
The chef says he hopes to bring Rochester back to what it used to be with his restaurant.
