City of Rochester cancels New Year’s Eve fireworks

Local News

The City of Rochester says it won’t hold a fireworks display for New Year’s Eve this year.

City officials say they made the decision to cancel the display due to low attendance over the past few years. Instead, the city says it has redirected the money for the display to other holiday events, like the Holiday Village.

The fireworks are typically held each year in Rochester along the Genesee River in downtown Rochester.

The city still has other regular New Year’s Eve events planned including ice skating at Martin Luther King Jr. park and a party at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center.
