The City of Rochester may allow the owners of the Rochester Amerks and Buffalo Sabres to take over operations of the Blue Cross Arena.
In a statement to News 8, Pegula Sports and Entertainment says framework is in place for a short-term agreement for the company to take over operation of the Blue Cross Arena. If approved, Pegula Sports says they are working towards a longer term deal.
News 8 is reaching out to city officials for more information on the development.
SMG, the previous operator, was removed at the end of last month, and operations were temporarily transferred over to the city, after city leaders said SMG failed to perform.
A city spokesperson said SMG owed the city hundreds of thousands of dollars that the company said it couldn't pay back.
Pegula Sports says their goal is to make upgrades to the arena, including a new scoreboard.
Terry and Kim Pegula own the Sabres, Amerks and the Buffalo Bills.
