Citizen 911 tip leads to arrest of five time felon in Gates

Local News

Gates Police have arrested a man with five previous felony convictions after they say he was found to be in possession of stolen property.

On Wednesday morning, around 2:30 a.m., a citizen called 911 to report what they said was a suspicious person on Spencerport Road casing vehicles.

Gates Police responded and a short distance away they located Phillip M. Sullivan, 49, of Rochester.

Police say Sullivan was found to be in possession of numerous items of stolen property. Police identified items that had been stolen from the vehicles of three separate victims in the Town of Ogden.

Sullivan was charged with three counts of criminal possession of stolen property in the 5th degree.

Since Sullivan has 28 previous misdemeanor convictions and five previous felony convictions, he was arraigned in Gates Court and sent to the Monroe County jail on $1,500 bail.

Police say they recovered other property from him that we have not yet identified owners for. If you live along Spencerport Road, or neighborhoods off from it, and had property stolen from your vehicle last night, contact the Gates or Ogden Police Departments for a report.

Gates Police would also like to thank the citizen who called 911.
