Saturday is National Cheesecake Day!
Cheesy Eddie’s in the South Wedge celebrated National Cheesecake Day for the 5th year in a row by giving away free slices of the dessert.
Eddie David started selling cheesecakes 40 years ago, back in 1976.
Now, current owner John Baker says he and his staff have been preparing for days to celebrate. “We baked a lot of extra cheesecakes, and we had people cutting, packaging, all day for about a day and a half, almost two days to get ready. We’re probably going to give away about 1500 to 1600 cheesecake slices or more,” Baker said.
If National Cheesecake Day isn’t sweet enough for you, some new features at Cheesy Eddie’s include a “Pop-up” coffee and espresso bar and a full line of cupcakes, including cheesecake stuffed cupcakes and a s’mores cupcake.
