Monroe County is working to better accommodate those with disabilities at the Department of Motor Vehicles.
County Clerk Adam Bello and representatives from the Center for Disability Rights announced changes to the Clerk’s Office reservation system which will provide for a simplified and improved method for individuals with disabilities to request accommodations at DMV offices in Monroe County.
“No one looks forward to going to the DMV, but the extra barriers that have been there for people with disabilities are now being eliminated and we’re so excited to see that,” said Stephanie Woodward, Director of Advocacy for the Center for Disability Rights.
The County offers ASL interpreters, oral tests, and staff assistance with forms. There is a new number for those with disability questions: 585-753-1604. You are asked to call before showing up to accommodate arrangements.
You can also schedule appointment in advance on Monroe County’s website.
