Oliver Middle School is kicking off a new initiative this year called “College and Career Lunch Brunches.”
Selected students will attend a lunch where a presenter describes their job and what education was needed. The students are then able to ask the presenter questions.
Monday, Chris Trapasso, NFL Draft Expert for CBS Sports and writer for the Buffalo News, stopped by for the program.
Trapasso says, “I think it’s easy especially for kids at this age to think, ‘Why am I writing this? Why do I have to learn adjectives and commas?’ So, for me to just tell them there are careers that you will need to use this and more fun careers — watching football, writing about football. I just thought it was a great opportunity to talk about that.”
Some of the other presenters included police, elected officials, and business owners.
