Canandaigua police: Intoxicated driver led police on chase

A Canandaigua woman is accused of running from police while driving under the influence of drugs.

Twenty-year-old Autumn Smith is now charged with reckless driving, driving while ability impaired by drugs, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, reckless driving, speeding and a number of other traffic and vehicle violations.

The chase started around 7:50 p.m., officers say, when they responded for an incident at the City Pier. Investigators tried to stop Smith’s vehicle as part of that investigation when Smith didn’t stop.

Officers say Smith led officers on a chase through the south-side of Canandaigua and into the county jurisdiction.

Deputies were able to use stop sticks to disable her vehicle on Routes 5 and 20 at McCann Road. Smith tried to run on foot, but was quickly arrest.

She was transported to Ontario County Jail ahead of arraignment.
