HOPEWELL, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - A Canandaigua man was charged with animal abandonment Saturday morning. Officers with the Ontario County Humane Society responded to a residence on Straw Road in the Town of Hopewell where a greyhound-mix named Bella was found.
The 7-month-old dog was identified as the same dog brought to the shelter earlier by 37-year-old Timothy Morgan who was unable to keep her at his home.
Officers say the shelter was unable to take Bella due to her just being adopted from another shelter a few days earlier.
An investigation showed that Morgan had let Bella loose and abandoned her on Straw Road.
Morgan was taken to Ontario County Jail for pre-detention arraignment.
Bella is at the Ontario County Humane Society where she is expected to be placed up for adoption. The OCHS is located on County Road 48.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation.
