The sixth Babies & Bumps event will be held at the DoubleTree Rochester on Jefferson Road in Henrietta this Saturday, April 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Jenna Page, the Marketing Specialist for Babies & Bumps, discussed this year’s event Tuesday during News 8 at Noon.
“It’s a premier convention style event that we’re now in six cities,” said Page. “It’s designed for new and expecting parents to really inform, educate and empower them on all aspects of having a baby. People will be able to experience classroom style seminars. They will experience ‘how to’ demonstrations that are designed to teach them a variety of skills, so prenatal yoga, comfort measures and positions for labor, and we also have different event elements, like a Mom and Baby Market where people can shop from local artisans, where they can go to a baby-wearing test drive area, and they’ll also be able to get photos taken of them and their support person there by professional photographer as well.”
Page said since expanding to different cities, Babies & Bumps organizers, including founder Monica Infante, have seen what topics most people are interested in and what has worked well in other places. “So we’re really excited about the birth partner workshop that Beautiful Birth Choices is going to be hosting, and then we’re also going to be having a seminar on Pain Management Options outside of just the epidural hosted by one of our local doctors, Dr. Yosha and then a doula from Beautiful Birth Choices as well.”
This year, Babies & Bumps will be interactive with Ask the Expert. “When Babies & Bumps first started one of the elements that we used outside of event day to really reach our followers and fans, outside of just that one day a year, was to bring in industry experts on all things mom and baby in an online environment, which now we’re going to be doing on Facebook Live which is great,” Page noted. “So we’re going to be starting up again at the end of April on Breastfeeding and Supply.”
