People in the Rochester area are using an organization in Buffalo to solicit money from people.
Recently, people have reported having cards promoting the “Stop the Violence” campaign handed out to them outside the Tops store in Henrietta, asking for donations.
The founder of “Stop the Violence,” Bishop Perry Davis, says the solicitors are not part of his organization, and warns people against donating money.
The Tops location says they are aware of the situation and have asked the solicitors to leave.
A report has also been filed with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office advises people not to give money if they are approached by solicitors, and instead ask for more information to be sent to them at a later time. They advise not to give money on the spot.
