Brockport’s new police chief has officially been sworn into office.

Mark Cuzzupoli is replacing Chief Dan Varrenti, who has been chief since 2002.

Varrenti served in the Irondequoit Police Department for more than 20 years prior to that.

Cuzzupoli has 23 years of police service under his belt and says he’s ready to show the community that he’s prepared to take on this new opportunity.

“I think things are going great with the Brockport Police Department what we want to amp up in community service but getting out of the car and doing more of a patrol in side streets parks the schools and building relationships,” said Cuzzupoli.

Cuzzupoli says he hopes a greater trust with police will be established as well.
