This election was expected to bring higher than usual voter turnout, but that wasn’t the case this year.
According to the Monroe County Board of Elections, as of 8 p.m. on Tuesday, 70% of registered voters showed up to the polls. That is lower than 72% in 2012 and 75% in 2008.
When breaking down the data by who voted for Trump versus Clinton, Monroe County had the highest percentage of voters for Hillary Clinton at 53.3%.
Genesee County had 64% of voters choosing Donald Trump.
The trend showed a downward turn in people coming out to vote.
