Members of the Boys and Girls Club of Rochester were recognized on Thursday night for their success in accelerated reading and homework programs.

The special dinner is held annually, and rewards those who work hard all school year.

“Kids really like to, they’re motivated by their accomplishments and so once they’ve  proven to themselves they can do something and do it well then they become proficient at it,” said Dwayne Mahoney.

This year, the reading program had around 240 kids involved and they read more than 15,000 books.
