Members of the Boys and Girls Club of Rochester spent Wednesday making their own ice cream flavors.
It was part of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math program, otherwise known as STEM. STEM allows its participants to be creative and critical thinkers while exposing kids to a variety of hands-on experiences in the different fields.
Some of the creative ice cream flavors that will be created this week include breakfast ice cream and barbeque sauce ice cream.
“The youth inside the Boys and Girl’s club can try it also with their parents, they can come in and see it,” said STEM coordinator Heather Floyd. “It’s a showcase they’re going to put on that the youth work on. And they’ve been working on the ice cream project for a couple weeks now.”
The flavor favorites will be presented during a special ice cream sampling party with parents, Boys and Girls Club of Rochester board members, and program supporters in March.
