The lake effect snow machine is cranking up again tonight. In addition, whipping winds and plummeting temperatures will remind us that it is winter in Western New York.
Lake snow warnings are in effect for Genesee & Wyoming counties tonight, with lake snow advisories for Monroe & Orleans counties. This is for snow this evening that will drop south later this evening.
Round 2 of lake effect snow begins by the morning commute. A band dropping south from Lake Ontario will deliver another few inches of snow relatively quickly for everybody.
Round 3 arrives for the Thursday evening commute. This again, will bring another round of a few inches of fresh snow.
Overall, amounts will be manageable for the majority of us, except Genesee, Wyoming and southern Orleans counties, where the snow will fall hard this evening.
The other part of the weather story will be the cold air. Temperatures in the teens and gusty winds will make it feel at or below zero through Friday morning.
