The fourth Beyond the Bump event will be held at the DoubleTree Rochester on Saturday, April 16.
Co-founder Monica Infante discussed the event and its expansion Monday on News 8 at Noon.
Infante said Beyond the Bump is designed to prepare new and expectant moms for all aspects of having a baby.
Bestselling pregnancy and parenting author Ann Douglas will lead three seminars and conduct a book signing.
There will be a total of 12 expert-led seminars focusing on topics related to pregnancy, labor and delivery, newborns and infants, and the transition to motherhood. There will also be demonstrations for a variety of skills including cloth diapering and comforting labor positions. In addition, there will be a pediatrician meet and greet, baby wearing test drive area, baby and bump photos, and more.
To support moms and babies in need, Beyond the Bump is teaming up with two local non-profits – The Crisis Nursery – a program of the Center for Youth – and ROC City Bottoms. All of the proceeds of raffle sales for nearly 40 items will go to The Crisis Nursery. Attendees can also take part in a diaper drive for ROC City Bottoms.
In addition to this year’s event in Rochester, Beyond the Bump is expanding for events in Buffalo, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
