As this year marks the centennial of women’s rights to vote here in New York State, there has been celebrations all week and on Saturday, those festivities continued with a parade!
The ‘Because of Women Like Her’ parade was held in Rochester today as part of the last mile of the route to the Susan B. Anthony Museum and House.
Girls and women were seen marching in different groups throughout the streets of Downtown Rochester.
One parade-goer we spoke to was overwhelmed by the amount of support for women’s rights at the parade.
“I think it’s awful that they went that long without letting women vote, and I think it’s so important to see women 100 years ago who weren’t as assertive as we are fighting for our rights…and I have a granddaughter turning 18 this year,” said Cathy Medina.
The parade on Saturday was part of VoteTilla, a week long event which kicked off in Seneca Falls
