“Be My Neighbor” Day this Saturday

Local News

It’s a chance to embrace your neighbor this Saturday, June 3 in Rochester!

The Monroe County Library System, Rochester City School District and WXXI will host “Be My Neighbor” Day at the Central Library on South Avenue in the city.

The family event will feature hands-on learning and the opportunity to perform acts of kindness.  There will also be a special visit from PBS’s Daniel Tiger, star of “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.”  The popular children’s program is inspired by “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.”

“We’re taking this idea from the Fred Rogers Company,” said Cara Rager, the Manager of Educational Training & Family Engagement at WXXI. “They’ve been doing these events around the country called ‘Be My Neighbor,” and really just focusing in on doing good for others and how you can be a good neighbor everyday.”

Saturday’s event will go from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Central Library.

You can pick up free RTS bus passes for “Be My Neighbor” Day at all city library branches.
