The Avon Inn reopened it’s doors on New Year’s Eve to celebrate the rebirth of the beloved landmark.
The iconic hotel in the heart of Avon dates back to the 1840’s. Over the last 15 months, Jim and Jennifer Krause have kept the gem under wraps as it underwent renovations.
Jennifer Krause said, “The Inn was due for a makeover and we kind of renovated it to make it our own. But, we wanted to keep the past in mind, honor the past and look forward to making it a great building in the future.”
Jim Krause said, “We’ve been pulling back years of multiple renovations through the decades. Stripping it back and bring it back to it’s original bones.”
The Avon Inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
“We feel a large responsibility to preserve the Avon Inn to keep it period correct. To make changes that will be accurate for the buildings period. Just feel like it was always this way,” said Krause.
To ring in 2018 and officially open doors, the Krauses have gone over the top with old world charm. Now, it’s up to guests to dance the night away on the historic evening.
