Attempted abduction reported in Geneva

Local News

The Geneva Police Department is alerting the public after an attempted abduction Monday afternoon.

Police say a 13-year-old male was walking home from Geneva Middle School, in the area of Pulteney Street near William Street, when a black minivan parked behind him.

The teen told police a man about 6-feet-tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and orange gloves grabbed the victim’s hand. We’re told the suspect did not say anything to to the victim, and the teen was able to get away and run to safety.

The minivan is described as having a white mark or large scratch on the hood/ front end. It was last seen in the Pulteney Street area.

Anyone with information is asked to call Geneva Police at 315-828-6779.

In a statement Tuesday afternoon, the Geneva City School District said:

Any potential threat to our students concerns us deeply. We have confidence in the Geneva Police Department’s ability to get to the bottom of this matter. We encourage our students to be cautious of strangers at all times.
