At the Athena Awards on Thursday at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center, women were honored for their leadership in the Rochester area.
Athena Award finalists were chosen based on their achievements, community service endeavors, and leadership skills.
The Athena Young Professional Award recognizes emerging leaders who demonstrate excellence, creativity, and initiative in their business or profession.
“I think it sends a real great message to women of all ages about the success of women in our community, the importance that women play in our community, and just the overall vibrancy of women leadership here in Rochester,” said Wende Knapp, president of the Women’s Council.
Recipients also provide valuable service by contributing time and energy to improve the quality of life of others in the community, while serving as a role model for young women both personally and professionally.
