Local News

A statue honoring the life of a slain Rochester police officer was unveiled Friday.

The monument was dedicated at the Eyer Building on Main Street in East Rochester Friday morning to Officer Daryl Pierson where he was a resident of East Rochester.

Pierson was shot and killed in the line of duty in September of 2014 while chasing a suspect on Hudson Avenue in Rochester.

Local artist Mark McDermott created the sculpture after drafting several designs and sharing them with the family.
