The job loss numbers for Alleson Athletic reported yesterday might actually end up higher. Yesterday, at least 75 positions were confirmed to be cut when the primary facility closes in June. Yet, the decoration wing that does work on Alleson Athletic’s apparel, might also have their jobs on the line.
In a statement from Alleson Athletic, (incorporating its decoration house), it says they have quote “informed approximately 129 employees that their positions may be eliminated as part of a restructuring the company is planning to do in May.” An Alleson employee who works at the decoration facility, who did not want to be identified, was stunned by the announcement.
He says, “We’re not 100 percent sure as to why it’s closing down. We set records last year for sales, shipping, everything. Every aspect. Hopefully, we can find work moving forward and continue to provide for our families.”
Also in the statement from the company, they say affected employees will be offered severance pay, benefits, and transition assistance. In a touch of what might be good news, they say the company’s customer service operation will not be impacted and will remain in Rochester with plans for future expansion.
