One local church was left scrambling after the wind did some damage just hours before a big event they’re hosting on Friday.
High winds nearly destroyed the registration tent for the event and the church was forced to figure out an alternative.
The Cross Creek Church congregation came together to get things ready just in time. Phone calls were made and organizers say people coming out to help was like a chain reaction.
Contractors and congregation members have been hard at work since 10 a.m. and finished up just in time for volunteers to start arriving around 4 p.m.
Prayer team leader Dave Dennie says the outpouring of help has been incredible.
“Whenever we have a problem something goes on in the church people come out of the woodwork,” said Dennie.
The event Friday night is a prom dance for people with special needs. They’re expecting 150 honored guests and over 400 volunteers.
