5 people make it out of early morning apartment fire in Rochester

Five people are safe after a Rochester apartment building caught fire early Tuesday morning.

It happened shortly after 3:00 a.m. at an apartment on Hickory Street near Mount Hope Avenue.

The Rochester Fire Department says the five people who live in the two-apartment building made it out safely.

There is significant damage to the upstairs apartment. The Red Cross is assisting the residents with housing.
