In a follow up to a story we first brought you last fall, 1366 Technologies has signed a major deal to supply solar wafers to the South Korean company Hanwha Q CELLS.

Hanwha Q CELLS is the largest cell panel producer in the world.  The new 1366 Technologies plant will open in Genesee County in 2017.  Mark Peterson, the President & CEO of Greater Rochester Enterprise explained how important a development this is for the company.  “What basically that means is that 1366 already has an order for nearly 50 percent of everything they can make at their first facility for the next five years, so it’s interesting that we now have a customer before we’ve even broken ground,” he said.  “That means this project is very secure and we’re very excited about the new jobs that will be coming to Genesee County and the Finger Lakes region.”

1366 Technologies will serve as the anchor tenant at STAMP, the Science and Technology Advanced Manufacturing Park in Genesee County.
